CAE

RENOVATION . mississauga, ON . work in progress

This high-technology company located near Pearson Toronto Airport provides immersive digital simulation training for pilots. CAE was looking to upgrade their entrance lobby and second floor Pilot’s lounge, to modernize the overall experience for their clientele and staff. Taking inspiration from airline flight path maps as well as colors and textures from surrounding clouds and lakes, we developed a new lobby and lounge complete with new reception desk, integral digital sign-in stations, furniture, and lighting. The design incorporates the company’s new branding identity and color palette to create a warm & inviting lounge contrasted against a more vibrant and playful entrance area.

Initial design development includes researching inspiration images to help develop a design narrative for the project. NAV Canada airflight paths, cloud imagery, and technical airplane wing construction images define how the architecture is designed to reflect these ideas.

Schematic elevations: aviation flight paths to Pearson Toronto Airport inspired the wall cladding panel design. Recessed lighting and metal “wings”/”fins” highlight the pathways.
